Commitee of Climate Protection | scientific monitoring

The monitoring of a committee with the topic „ The Climate Protection Politics of the Government and the European Union – Impacts on the Real Estate and Housing Industry“ from an industry professional standpoint.

The European goals for climate protection „20-20-20“ are set until the year 2020. The debate is, how Germany can meet these standards while keeping both operating expenses and economic costs to a minimum.

One focus of the government’s approach is on buildings as the main cause for greenhouse gases and thus poses a great challenge for the real estate and housing industry, especially when considering the current legal, technical and economical situation.

Under the leadership of the German Organization of Housing, City Planning and Regional Development Inc. and in coorperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs as well as the Federal Ministries of Economics and Techonology, Finance and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, a

committee was created to develop solutions for the government. The committee consists of representatives of the states and communities, of the housing and energy industry, the credit industry, the German Renters’ Coalition Inc., the construction industry and architects.

The question is how the real estate and housing industry can contribute to achieving the goals for climate protection, what will it cost and who will cover those costs.

This committee was and is being consulted by the Operational Housing Industry Research Center at the chair of „Construction economy and Real Estate Economics“ at the TU Darmstadt, where Nikolas Müller was involved.
